From Ken Rockwell:
I got a grip for my X100, and it's fun.
I'm not a grip person, but since a friend sent me these, I had to try them.
The best thing is that they are MADE IN USA, easy to attach, and once on, don't get in the way of the battery door, speaker or card access.
I'd rather it was priced at $200 and made of full-grain glove-soft leather, but hey, for under $30 and MADE IN USA, you can't go wrong.
If you get a really fresh one, it's hand-poured urethane made at a custom mold shop, so it will be smelly as it cures. The stinky smell goes way, and you've got a tough cover that will always be on your camera that you don't have to remove every time you want to charge, load and unload.
The attaching screw is flush with the bottom of the case and uses the otherwise useless ¼"-20 thread on the bottom of the camera.. These cameras need no tripods, but like every other grip, you will have to remove it if you want to use the ¼"-20 thread for the wrong reason.
From C.R. Fralick:
I was looking for a good half case for my X10 and came across the JB product. The case is terrific - perfect fit with a stainless screw (tripod socket) to hold it on. The texture is firm but very grippy and the material is thick enough to provide substantial protection to the bottom and sides. Right where your hand would wear camera finish over time is where the case protects solidly. There is an opening for the card and battery door on the bottom and a little LCD bumper at the base of the LCD. Service and support were excellent from JB and I'd highly recommend both JB Camera Designs and this case. Outstanding product!
From LMN:
This is a good case for the protection of the bottom plate of your X10. It is easy to attach and detach. Priced reasonably.
From Avosk:
I bought this accessory after reviewing dozens of half-cases on Amazon and E-bay. It turned out to be a good choice. It's lightweight and adds little to the bulk of the camera. It gives you a more secure feel holding the camera, and I think makes it easier to hold it steady. Attaching the grip to the camera takes maybe 30 seconds, and it doesn't get in the way of any of the controls. My only complaint is that the screw that attaches it is not attached to the grip itself, and thus would be easy to lose.
From Marc:
The X10 feels a bit small in the hands. I use this case with a thumb grip and it is extremely comfortable and grippy. What's great is I can lay the camera on its back and the screen doesn't touch the table. The opening for the battery/memory card is so convenient. The angular design goes well with the camera and the price is right. Well crafted product. A tripod mount would be a plus but it's not a must for me.
From SMG:
This is an unusual but incredibly useful half-case for the Fuji X10 that actually exceeded my expectations. I had expected something on the soft side, but in fact this bottom-covering protector is perfectly molded and cured to a hard, durable bottom cover for the X10 that really has no equal. The fit and finish are both superb. Most important, it does the job it's supposed to do, ie protect the bottom surface of the camera as well as, to a certain extent, the LCD. Remarkably, this snug-fitting, good-looking accessory gives you easy access to the battery & SD card. Nice! The grip portion gives the X10 a more substantial feel that the camera alone, and there's a robust, stainless screw for affixing the protector to the camera's tripod socket, keeping the protector in place no matter what. The company even provides a "good luck" penny for turning the screw! I can only hope that the company will be making similar protector products for my larger DSLRs like my 5D, 40D and t3i. I wouldn't hesitate one minute to purchase them if they were available.
From Mary:
The J. B. Camera Designs grip case for the Fuji X10 is wonderful ! I thought it might add bulk to the camera - it does not ! I thought the directions might be difficult - a first grader could put this case on the camera ! I so appreciate the ease , just pop it on and put the little screw into the bottom and use the penny that they enclose and tighten the screw !! Done ! Now the vulnerable bottom and one side and partially on the other side are all protected plus I have a much better grip on my camera . Before getting this case, I knew that it was a matter of time before I dropped the camera . Now, I am no longer worried !! I can't get over how they did this and did not add bulk or weight ! And best of all, this is Made In America !! So give them your business ! Oh, the case came quickly, before the suggested date !! I am a very happy customer ! I love my Fuji X 10 and I love this grip case that I read about on the Fuji forums !! Win ! Win !
From Zentech:
I saw this mentioned on kenrockwell.com .
The X100 is a great size and handles well. I have big meaty fingers though and sometimes I have wished that the body was just a little bigger. I had considered a very nice base plate/grip but the 200.00 price tag was a deal breaker. I would rather spend that money on some paper and inks.
When I read about it, I went immediately to the JB Camera Design website and ordered the 29.00 grip. It arrived 2 days ago. It slips onto the camera with no instructions necessary. There is a screw that attaches the base of the grip to the tripod screw hole and, JB even supplies a lucky penny to use as a screw driver.
The grip adds just enough heft to the X100 to make me feel secure about quickly grabbing the camera and using it. It is more comfortable than holding the camera alone. There are cutouts in the base for the battery compartment and speaker. It is very well made with a nice texture that gives a secure feel.
A well spent 30.00.
One other thing. On the invoice was hand written "Thanks Michael! -JB" . It was a nice touch.
Along with the penny, documentation, obvious quality of the product and pride in workmanship, this was a fulfilling purchase. I highly recommend this product.
Oh yeah, the grip has a very distinct smell. It has dissipated to almost zero in the last 24 hours. I kind of liked it. The smell brought back memories of working on an oil rig when I was a kid.
From Bubba:
Received product yesterday. I was doubtful about quality, but product fits perfectly on my Fuji X100. Easy to go on and off. Looks good and I don't have to worry about scratches on base of camera. I don't know how manufacturer can produce the product for this price. Even included a lucky penny to install the screw. Seller has pride in his product.
From T.Wagner:
After extremely fast shipment last week (2 days!), I had the opportunity to try out the X100 Grip Case this past weekend. Three cheers for J.B. Camera Designs. When carrying and shooting with my camera, I felt more secure while holding the camera, due to the texture of this grip. On the bottom, I like how you don't have to remove the case to get to the battery/SD card compartment. I smiled as I saw the "extra touch" of a penny to secure the tripod screw into the bottom of the case - this company reminds me of the great American camera companies of yesteryear, when quality and service came first. Finally, it was good to see a product that was a true value when it came to payment. I only wish I could leave more than 5 stars on my review.
From B. Aloha:
If you shoot with a lens hood on your camera all the time, you can't use any of the other (full) cases for the X100. I purchased one of those other cases for $100 and sent it back. It was meant for storing the camera after removing the lens hood.
I shoot every day with my X100 and I wanted a case that protects the LCD screen which this Grip Case from J.B. Camera Designs does well. It gives me access to the battery/SDcard compartment.
Great deal deal for the price.
From Ivo:
exactly what it is supposed to be, nothing much to say, it protects, it does what it is supposed, does not spoil the looks
perfect
From K. Baker:
This is a really great product. It fits perfectly without obscuring any buttons and I can leave it on when changing the battery or removing the memory card. It improves handling and protects against dings and scratches.
From DandCats:
Very nice quality. The pics are dead on but the only thing to consider is if you use a mon/tri pod than you will not be able to use the screw so instead the release tri plate would adhere to the bottom instead. I am a girl but I have very long fingers and so model with a thicker grip would be great! Kinda like the Nex 7 or the add on on the OLY EM5. First we make VCR and then we make vcr and then smaller and smaller.
J. Silvera:
Product is a good fit for the camera and made well for the cost, however it could really use a deeper/steeper vertical edge on the grip area - it feels only slightly more 'grippy' than the camera body itself. The base plate flexes away from the body sometimes when used and could be thicker or reinforced. Overall a good protector for the base plate with moderate increase in tactile control.
From Palrob Bob:
I am very happy with this grip. Feels great in the hand and greatly improves grip of the S100. I was worried that a grip might scratch my camera- but not to worry. It is a very unique material that will not harm the surface of the camera and it does not even touch the LCD. What I like best about the grip is the lay-on-the-table design. It is nice to be able lay it backwards without concern. It also is nice and wide on the bottom- making a very stable base for steadying the camera. Finally- I love that it is designed and made in the USA. Thanks J.B.!!!
From Mary:
Love it ! It took a little slippery camera and gave me something to hold on to ! Now I don't worry about dropping this wonderful little camera ! Well worth the money !!
From Jason:
I got my X10 about a month ago and instantly loved it, but thought I really should get something to protect it for when I want to take it fishing and skiing and what not. I started looking at options and was quickly drawn to the X10 case from JB Cases. I got my first one (black) and am VERY happy with it. The fit and finish is spot on, it's light weight, and doesn't add a lot of bulk. I liked it so much I went ahead and got a red one as well. The red looks awesome against the black Fuji body. If you are looking for extra protection for your X10 in a light weight very well made package, this is the case for you!
From Sebastian:
I originally purchased the red version of the case/grip about a month ago, but upon receiving it I noticed there was a slight bow at the bottom that made the fit somewhat sloppy. I sent in a request for a refund and to my surprise, I received a reply from J.B. himself. J.B. inquired about the issue and assured me that he will not accept anything but complete satisfaction on my end so he refunded me the purchase price AND sent me a replacement. He even gave me a choice as to which color I preferred! Now THAT is customer service that goes above and beyond!
Moving on to the item itself...
The fit is perfect and aids in the ergonomics of holding the camera one-handed
This color brown is pleasing and natural and seems to be the best choice if all you're looking for is something to protect the x100 and not stand out too much. I considered black, but it didn't match many of my other leathered goods.
The craftmanship is tops. No need to worry about it breaking apart or wearing down since it is one solid piece. Very well made.
It also gives the desired amount of protection I was looking for without obstructing the battery and sd card door..
Do not hesitate in purchasing this case if you don't want to gamble on those other flimsy and expensive leather cases.
